Sunday: part 1
No more stupid girls in movies! A conversation about a local film with an important story.
Join us for coffee and conversation at the Golden Bough Theater on Sunday morning to help get an important local film into production: JANE, a narrative feature film slated to begin shooting in Monterey and Carmel next summer. JANE follows an exceptional 15- year-old girl on a healing journey after a high profile sexual assault. JANE gives its audience a chance to root for a young girl who goes through an unfortunately common traumatic event and finds her way back to standing even. As our poster says, There is a spark in each of us that nothing can destroy.
Come see our SIZZLE REEL, meet our cast and crew, and help find funding to make a movie about smart teenagers.
Sunday: part 2
Discovering Agent Taylor, One Last Dance, Next Chapter, Its A Process, Love Letter, and A Long Shot!
The young independent film artist community of Monterey Bay, HARA Motion Picture Conservatory, in association with Left Coast Entertainment and Access Monterey Peninsula, are screening 5 original short narrative films and one 38-minute featurette.
Since the beginning of the year, professional artists have mentored local high school students in HARA training classes for acting, directing, writing, producing, and all behind-the-scenes crew positions through hands-on experience making the films. Each short film focuses on dramatic plots with a surprise twist at the end; as many shorts must have to compete in film festivals. The featurette, A LONG SHOT, was specifically written and produced by these locals as an inspirational piece for cinema-goers of this film festival.
A Long Shot is an original ensemble mind-bending thriller/comedy about high school students on a college tour in search of a bright future when they unexpectedly get trapped in a TV studio and are forced to question the truth of their identity and values.
Discovering Agent Taylor is a fun adventure-drama about a girl, Carly, who must learn to accept herself and find her inner power when she is thrown into one of her craziest dreams.
One Last Danceis a narrative drama about a young ballet dancer who experiences the loss of his legs and his one love. He must learn that love, like life, doesn’t have to die completely.
Next Chapter is a unique split-screen drama of past and present, about a girl who finds empowerment in herself after leaving an abusive relationship.
It’s A Process is a narrative drama about a young high school girl, Mari, who must accept the death of a friend in order to find acceptance of herself.
Love Letter is a narrative drama about two friends who drift apart, and only life’s greatest lesson, told through a letter, will bring them closer than ever.
